43/99: Chocolate Butter Cupcakes

These little guys were a hit. I should have doubled the recipe.

I made Rose's Chocolate butter cupcakes and then made a batch of peppermint icing from Mama's Peppermint Torte. Really, it was the perfect combination.

The cupcakes were incredibly moist and as Rose puts it, "deeply chocolaty."

They were fairly basic too. Cocoa powder and boiling water, eggs, vanilla, flour, butter, etc. Pretty basic.   The recipe itself was probably about a half a page long. Brilliant.

Needless to say, this is my new chocolate cupcake recipe.

It went over really well.  I took them to a party and they were gone pretty quickly.  I kept having people come up to me asking if I was the girl who made the cupcakes.  I had one girl come up to me and ask me that question and then asked if she could be my new best friend.

Definitely a winner.

  1. Oh my gosh!!! What a perfect combination. Can just imagine these for the Christmas holidays.

  2. I love how you decorated them--so cute! I've got that Peppermint Torte on the list for the holidays, thanks to you!

  3. They are so cute Jane! Love the photo as well. Is that a knitting yarn that you wrap around the cupcakes? That's a great idea! Can I copy it? :)

  4. Thanks everyone!

And Jenn- you can absolutely have the idea. Yep, it's just some knitting yarn stashed away. Have fun!
