1/99: Apple-Cinnamon Crumb Coffee Cake

"It tastes like apple crisp... but it's better than apple crisp!" -Elizabeth Cain

"I could seriously eat the whole cake in one sitting." - Jessica Weston

"I'm the one who said I could eat the whole thing. I seriously could. hehehe." -Hope McKinney

Well cake number one was definitely a success. I think I am going to be gaining a lot of weight this year but that's totally ok with me if everything tastes as good as this cake does.

I took some photos of the process.  It was actually much more simple than I expected. And the great part is that the only extra ingredients that I had to buy were ONE apple and a little sour cream. Amazing.

So first you mix the cake batter and put about 2/3 of it in the spring form pan.  Then you arrange the apples and a cinnamon mixture on top:

Then you cover it with the rest of the cake batter:

After you bake it for awhile, add the the sugar, walnut, cinnamon, etc mixture to the top and bake some more!

Bake till your tester comes out clean:

And voila it's done!

I was really impressed with this coffee cake recipe.  It had a great texture, great flavor, and was not super time consuming.  Cake 1/99: superb.
